All three public schools to which Starkey Ranch students are assigned for the 2017-18 School Year have earned the Five Star School Award, recognizing exemplary levels of family and community involvement in the school environment.
Odessa Elementary, River Ridge Middle and River Ridge High were among just 700 schools statewide to qualify. River Ridge Middle School is the only middle school in Pasco County to earn the distinction for the 2015-16 school year, as announced in January 2017 by the Florida Department of Education.
The award is bestowed annually upon schools that achieve 100% of the established criteria for family involvement, volunteerism, student community service, school advisory councils and business partnerships.
As a community, Starkey Ranch supports enrichment programs at the three schools with proceeds from the annual Starkey Ranch Distance Classic held in April.
Starkey Ranch students have lots to look forward to with their schools, including innovative academies, learning opportunities, business training and so much more. As Starkey Ranch grows, Pasco County has plans to fund and build a brand new K-8 school adjacent to our Whitfield Park neighborhood.
Plans call for a gymnasium, athletic fields, a running track and sport courts, all of which will be available during non-school hours to Starkey Ranch and Pasco County residents, through a shared-use agreement with the school district.
A public library and theater are planned next door to the school, along with extensive recreation facilities in the Starkey Ranch District Park. The school site is located at the intersection of Long Spur and Lake Blanche Drive, just east of the District Park.
