Bay News 9 Features Tree Transplanting Effort at Starkey Ranch

The development team at Starkey Ranch recognized that there was a special opportunity to preserve many of the cypress trees that were in the path of development. In an effort to best utilize these beautiful trees, Wheelock Communities is undertaking a massive transplanting effort.

More than 100 cypress and oak trees are being relocated within the property. This initiative is in keeping with the Starkey Ranch philosophy to honor the land, and to allow future residents to truly connect with nature in a new place that exemplifies Old Florida. This transplanting process not only enhances the natural beauty of the community, it has also resulted in wildlife returning to their natural habitat in many replanted areas after just a few weeks.
