Brad and Carrie Rush are pros when it comes to moving. They’ve done it 19 times in their 30-year marriage. But the move they’re making today is particularly special for them, because they’re coming to a new home at Starkey Ranch and, in doing so, becoming the first residents of this landmark community. They’re our trailblazers, our pioneers.
It was only a few months ago that Brad and Carrie decided to put their North Redington Beach condo on the market and look for a home in the Odessa area, where they’d lived previously. “We were just driving by (Starkey Ranch) and instantly knew this is what we were looking for,” says Brad. “It’s like living in a nature preserve.”
Testament to that is in the photo that Brad posted on his Facebook and Twitter pages shortly after selecting their home site. It’s of the view from their new backyard: across a peaceful pond to a pristine cypress hammock. Avid bikers and hikers, Brad and Carrie are looking forward to exploring Starkey Ranch’s extensive trails, and letting their dachshund Pieper run free in our two dog parks.
Getting back to nature is not Brad and Carrie’s only interest, however. They’re also very social people and have attended three of the four Fun For Fall grand opening events at Starkey Ranch, plus the mixers for new homebuyers.
“We’ve liked everyone we’ve met, and look forward to welcoming many more new neighbors,” Carrie says.
They’ll have plenty of welcoming to do. While the Rushes are first, dozens more families are scheduled to move into Starkey Ranch in the months ahead. “We’re excited to see this community grow,” says Brad.
But on this day, the first order of business for the Rushes is unpacking all those boxes and making their new home truly feel like home.
