On Saturday, April 30^th, Starkey Ranch hosted over 300 racers, walkers and joggers for the inaugural 5K and Kids 100M Dash. The race course extended from Whitfield Preserve on the east to the Esplanade neighborhood on the west, with scenic views over the gorgeous Huckleberry Pond.

Participants came from as far as north Florida for this fun, family-friendly event and had a great time taking in the sights and sounds of one of North America’s top master-planned communities.

“It was a fantastic event, and we had a great turnout. The weather was beautiful, and we had people running, jogging and even walking behind strollers taking part. It’s so popular that we’ve already been asked when the next one is,” according to Starkey Ranch Parks & Recreation Director Mathew Eberius.

The 5K is also assisting local charities, with proceeds benefiting Odessa Elementary School and the Seven Springs Rotary Club.
