North American Properties – Southeast, Inc. has announced Publix as the anchor tenant in the Starkey Ranch Town Square, a commercial development on the north side of State Road 54 at Gunn Highway in Pasco County. The Town Square will feature a 45,000 square-foot Publix with a drive-thru pharmacy as well as an additional 30,000 square feet of retail space for restaurants, shops and services for the fast-growing corridor.
Starkey Ranch project director Matt Call said that Gunn Highway would be extended north of State Road 54 to intersect with Rangeland Boulevard, a new east-west road through Starkey Ranch. “Our residents can walk or ride bikes to the Town Square, or get there by car without having to use State Road 54,” said Call. He added that the location will also capture homebound afternoon commuters travelling State Road 54 westbound from the Suncoast Parkway.
North American Properties partner Dale Hafele said that Fisher Architects of Clearwater is designing the retail center to reflect the “ranch modern” aesthetic of other civic and commercial buildings at Starkey Ranch. “The award-winning architecture and landscape design throughout Starkey Ranch sets it apart as a one-of-kind place, and continuing these design themes will result in one of the most attractive neighborhood centers in Florida,” said Hafele. “Residents of Starkey Ranch and nearby communities will be drawn to the Town Square by a great lineup of tenants and also because it will have a very inviting, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. We look forward to breaking ground next year.”
Work on the extension of Gunn Highway into Starkey Ranch will begin in 2017 and the Publix store is expected to open in fall of 2018. Other tenants will be announced next year.
