Just when you thought Starkey Ranch couldn’t get any more invigorating, we decided to build a bike park! Grab your helmet and your bike, this progressive bike park will offer trails, hills, and more for an exhilarating off-road cycling adventure. The park will open in Fall 2021 and we’re excited to offer residents of all ages another way to connect with nature, spend quality time with family, and learn a new skill they can enjoy for years to come. We spoke with the bike park’s designer, Mike Cole of Natural Trailbuilding, for more details on what to expect from a bike park. Cole is an experienced off-road cyclist and passionate about preserving Florida’s natural environment. With the Starkey Ranch bike park, Mike Cole’s goal was to design accessible and fun trails that encourage learning and family bonding. “The idea is to have it progressive so people can learn,” shares Cole. The bike park will have 3 distinct areas for off-road cycling ranging from beginner to advanced. The first area is designed for young children on push bikes and balance bikes who are just starting out. This area will be known as Snake Run, with trails designed to resemble slithering snakes. “This is the first time that’s been done anywhere,” explains Cole. To his knowledge, Starkey Ranch will be the only bike park in Florida to have such unique customization. The second trail area next to Snake Run will be slightly more advanced, but still family-friendly. Children and adult riders on pedal bikes can learning the basics of off-road cycling such as pedaling, cornering, and braking. The third area is intended for advanced cyclists, but is also diverse enough that anyone can roll through at their own speed if they wish to. Adventurous riders will be able to learn to jump on elevated trails and work on their technical skills in this area of the park. “Off-road cycling is a lifelong sport,” says Cole. “Parents, grandparents, kids can ride all together. The great thing is you can ride a bike at any age. It’s really getting popular because of that.” Eventually the goal is to form a resident-led bike club and host clinics at the bike park, offering residents a unique opportunity to learn bike control and other helpful skills from professional riders and local organizations like Florida Freeriders. As Cole states, “It’s a lot easier to learn from professionals than learn on your own.” The bike park will offer residents a space to increase their skills and love of the sport close to home, before heading out to explore other areas like neighboring Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park, where SWAMP Mountain Bike Club maintains an expanding network of trails perfect for off-road adventures. Another cool aspect of the bike park and trail system? In keeping with Starkey Ranch’s connection to nature, Natural Trailbuilding is creating the bike park only using hand tools (instead of heavy machinery) and all trails will be made using natural materials like lime rock and red clay. This method has a lower environmental impact and it looks stunning! By the fall, the park will be open and buzzing with activity, and we can’t wait to offer Starkey Ranch residents another exciting outdoor space that brings new neighbors and family together. Until then, you can follow along at @naturaltrailbuilding on Instagram for sneak peeks, behind the scenes updates, and more from Mike!

We could not be more excited about the Fall 2021 opening of the new Starkey Ranch K-8 School and the Theater, Library, Cultural Center . Over the years, Pasco County has transformed from ranch lands to vibrant neighborhoods and communities, and Starkey Ranch is proud to offer a dynamic hub of education and activity for all our residents. Anticipation is building for the opening of Starkey Ranch K-8 School and our new cultural campus. In today’s post, we want to share more details and celebrate a truly unique vision finally coming to fruition. Starkey Ranch K-8 School will be the first school of its kind in Pasco County, and may serve as a model for future K-8 schools in the area. As a magnet school, Starkey Ranch K-8 will offer three tracks students may pursue: World Languages, Technical Fine Arts, or Computer Sciences. Each program is designed to encourage independent thinking and to offer students an innovative, modern approach to education. For the 2021-2022 school year, the school will serve K-7 students from Starkey Ranch, allowing rising 8th graders to remain with their current class. Students will have ample opportunity to explore a range of classes in lower grades that touch upon all three magnet themes and then select a “mini major” to pursue in grades 4 and 5. Notably, Starkey Ranch K-8 School will be the only Pasco County school to offer a comprehensive foreign language program designed for students in every grade level. In addition to Starkey Ranch K-8 School, our innovative Theater, Library, Cultural Center will also open in the Fall of 2021. We believe collaboration and community building are vitally important to a thriving society, and this innovative campus came to fruition through a public-private partnership between Starkey Ranch and Pasco County . This community space will share an outdoor courtyard with Starkey Ranch K-8, and during the school day will be safely restricted to school access only. Starkey K-8 School and the Theater, Library, Cultural Center will be right next to the District Park, forming an unparalleled educational, cultural, and recreational experience that will be open for public use after school hours and on weekends. We’re proud to see our vision come to fruition and it’s not long now until it’s all finally open! Starkey Ranch is a community rich in resources for our residents, where access to nature, a top-tier education system, and arts and cultural centers come together to nurture creativity and social growth. We’re on the cusp of a new and exciting chapter for Starkey Ranch, and this investment in the community’s future is another reason Starkey Ranch was again ranked Tampa Bay’s #1 Master Planned Community for the third year running. We can’t wait to see how our community flourishes with our new K-8 school opening and accompanying cultural campus this fall.

Located near Starkey Ranch Town Square and Publix, Stansil Park is more than just the newest neighborhood in Starkey Ranch – it’s the final neighborhood in Tampa Bay’s #1 master-planned community. And considering Stansil Park’s bungalow-style, single-family homes by Taylor Morrison, we can’t think of a better way to put a focus on such a special place. While Taylor Morrison also offers homes in Esplanade and Whitfield Preserve, the 230 homes in Stansil Park are unique to this neighborhood. Floor plans include the Boca Grande, Anastasia, Santa Rosa, Bonaire, Saint Thomas, Martinique, Antigua, Ashwood, Captiva, Barbados, Baldwin and Newberry. These incredible open floor plans range from 1,989 to 3,422 square feet. If you like spacious living rooms, designer kitchens, owner’s suites, covered lanais and flexible upgrade options throughout, then be sure to mark your calendar for November 6th. That’s the day Stansil Park model homes will be open for tours. As for parks, lakes, amenities, an unrivaled trail system and much more, don’t worry about the calendar. Because on over 2,400 acres adjacent to the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve, Starkey Ranch residents will enjoy these things for days, and generations, to come.

A charm? Three-peat? Mid-year honor? Whatever you call it, call Starkey Ranch thrilled and humbled to be named among the 50 top-selling master-planned communities in the nation, as well as #1 in Tampa Bay. Since 1994, RCLCO Real Estate Advisors has conducted an annual national survey identifying the top-selling master-planned communities through a rigorous search of high-performing communities in each state. And with year-to-date sales up 7% compared to this time in 2019, Starkey Ranch has once again proven to be a top pick for homebuyers. So what’s behind the statistics? Our guess is the same things as last year, and the year before that. No other community has nature more deeply rooted in its lifestyle than Starkey Ranch. On over 2,400 acres adjacent to the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve, residents enjoy parks, lakes, open spaces, a variety of wildlife and an unrivaled trail system. All this along with tremendous amenities, great schools and a year-round events calendar. There’s even a full-time Lifestyle Team creating fun, unique programs for people of all ages. It’s no wonder more and more people are calling Starkey Ranch home, and our reputation as a premier master-planned community continues to grow.

It’s no secret Starkey Ranch residents love living in this Top-50 master-planned community. But when it comes to the reasons why, we were curious to hear more – so we asked. In May, residents received a survey asking what they find most special about life at Starkey Ranch. The results were quite nice to hear, and definitely worth sharing. 93% of residents are happy living at Starkey Ranch. 63% identify being surrounded by nature as the most special aspect of the community. 44% chose to live in Starkey Ranch for the community’s connection to nature. 17% listed location and 15% listed amenities as their top reason to live here. By far (67% of residents), our extensive trail system is the most favored amenity. 21% of respondents said friendships with neighbors are what they enjoy most. Finally, residents were asked to select words they felt best described Starkey Ranch. “Beautiful,” “Nature” and “Friendly” rose to the top. Clearly, there are plenty of reasons to love life on more than 2,400 acres. To discover more of your own, stop by our Welcome Center. Who knows, you might just meet one of our residents. They can help share anything you’d like to know.

When life presents a challenge, you just run with it. So rather than postpone or cancel our annual Distance Classic due to current circumstances, Starkey Ranch made this incredibly popular event a virtual one. Extended from one day to three days, the race was held on April 3rd, 4th and 5th with health and safety top of mind. But fun came a very close second. Registered participants were encouraged to practice social distancing throughout and run only with family members or in groups of no more than two people. Along scenic paved trails, everyone ran at their own leisure from 7am to 7pm. Both the 5K and 10K routes started at Starkey Ranch District Park, chalked out to make it easy for runners to follow. Sidewalk signs signaled the start and finish lines. With 149 participants, the event was a great success. Not even the prizes could be canceled. Runners were rewarded with Starkey Ranch swag bags at the pickup station, and several resident runners received theirs on the doorstep of their home. Many people expressed their gratitude for being able to participate, and Starkey Ranch is thrilled to have kept this exciting tradition going. We’d also like to give a special thanks to Disparti Law Group, the official race sponsor. The race was such a success, we managed to raise nearly $4,000! All proceeds from this year’s Distance Classic will be donated to River Ridge Middle School and River Ridge High School. See you next year! “We ran the course last night and thought it was the best 5K course we have ever run. Everyone who put this event together deserves a pat on the back. Virtually, of course!” Don & Marcine M.
