2018: Year of the Dog

teddy.jpg

The Chinese New Year will be celebrated on February 16 to welcome 2018 as the Year of the Dog. The dog is the symbol of loyalty and honesty and we have made sure to include our furry, loyal residents as part of the Starkey Ranch Community.

In Starkey Ranch you'll find not one, but four dog parks. In Whitfield Park, there's Woof-field Park for the big guys and Barker Park for lap dogs and better. In Homestead Park you'll find Houndstead Park. And in Cunningham Park you'll find Dog Paddle Park, with access to Cannon Lake for dogs that love to get wet. These are places for off-leash fun and socialization for pups and their people. Residents of Esplanade have a private dog park, too.

At any point neighbors can hit the trails with their four-legged friend on a leash. Today you'll find more than 12 miles of wide paved trails, part of the planned 20-mile trail system within the community. Soon our trails will connect with the amazing nature trails in the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve as well as its 6.7-mile paved trail that connects to the 42-mile Suncoast Trail.
