Monday January 18, 2016
Grab those running shoes and start your training! Starkey Ranch is busy planning the first Starkey Ranch 5K, presented by Bright House Networks. This family-friendly timed race will take place on Saturday, April 30 with an 8AM shotgun start.
The 5K race will take runners through parts of the future 20-mile trail system within Starkey Ranch’s Whitfield Park and Whitfield Preserve neighborhoods and offer stunning views of the nature and beauty that helped to win the community the coveted “Master Planned Community of the Year” award from the National Association of Home Builders.
“We’re really proud to show off our community, and runners will see some of the most beautiful areas of Starkey Ranch, including the 65-acre Huckleberry Pond,” according to Parks & Recreation Director Mathew Eberius.
Registration for the Starkey Ranch 5K is only $20 and includes an official race t-shirt, chip timing and online results posting. Advance registration is recommended and can be done through Active.com and through the Starkey Ranch website.
There’s also an option for the little guys – the Kids 100m Dash will take place after the 5K and prior to the awards ceremony. Online registration for the Dash is also available online and is only $8.
